STV Productions has been commissioned to produce a documentary series for Channel 5 that explores the royal family through the lens of their relationship with the British press.

Each of the four one-hour episodes provides a new take on the biggest royal stories of the last 60 years, told through their sensational scoops, iconic pictures and memorable front pages. The episodes are “Diana Vs the Tabloids,” “The Palace and the Press: Held to Account,” “Young Royals Under Fire” and “Royals Behaving Badly.”

Narrated by actor Rupert Penry Jones (Spooks, Silk, Whitechapel), the series will bring both iconic and lesser-known archives to life, combined with interviews from journalists of the time.

Craig Hunter, creative director of factual for STV Productions, said: “Revisiting the stories that made the news while hearing from the journalists who wrote the headlines, gives a whole new perspective to the Royal scandals we think we know.”
