Sky Arts has lined up Gunpowder & Sky’s documentary Sounds Like Home, which highlights Sofar Sounds and Amnesty International’s Give a Home project for refugees.

Sounds Like Home will be released on Sky Arts at 6:30 p.m on May 28, which is Amnesty International Day, and on June 20, World Refugee Day. The Give a Home project brought together more than 1,000 musical artists, including Ed Sheeran, Emeli Sandé, Hot Chip and Ani DiFranco, to put a spotlight on the global refugee crisis. Sounds Like Home features a collection of musical performances in 60 countries.

“Music is part of Gunpowder & Sky’s DNA,” said Pasa Mustafa, the creative director of Gunpowder & Sky. We loved Sofar Sounds and Amnesty International’s approach to creating diverse, intimate gigs allowing music fans everywhere to hear from unheard talent and get closer with the people who share a love for music and unique experiences. We knew we had to jump in on Sounds Like Home and showcase this unique event that meant so much to the global community and Sky Arts was the best platform to help connect music lovers with this tremendous project.”

“Sky Arts is delighted to welcome this Amnesty International and Sofar Sounds project,” commented Jack Oliver, the acquisition manager at Sky Arts. “An inspirational program on the power of music connecting refugee voices and international artists from across the world and into your homes.”

Kate Allen, the director of Amnesty UK, added, “It was fantastic to have so many amazing musicians sign up to Give a Home and so many people around the world open their doors to host these gigs in solidarity with refugees. Governments have displayed a shocking failure of leadership over the refugee crisis, but ordinary people in communities across the world continue to go out of their way to welcome refugees. Everyone performing, hosting or attending the gigs helped support the global movement for a better response to the crisis, in the U.K. and around the world.”

Tom Lovett, the global commercial director of Sofar Sounds, remarked, “The response to Give a Home was beautiful. We saw thousands come together in unique spaces in nearly 60 countries around the world. Performers, hosts and guests were connected through music and had the opportunity to learn more about the refugee crisis and the incredible work Amnesty International is doing. Give a Home was an important event—the first of its kind—letting refugees everywhere know they are welcome.”
