Red Arrow Studios International has secured global rights to distribute The Weekly, an upcoming series produced by The New York Times and Left/Right.

The Weekly is a narrative documentary news program that includes one or two of The Times’s biggest and most important visual stories each week. The series was commissioned by FX, which has first-run North American rights, in partnership with Hulu. FX has committed to a minimum of 30 episodes, with the series scheduled to debut in 2019.

Hulu is the exclusive streaming home for new episodes of the series the day after they air. Red Arrow Studios International will launch the series to the global market at MIPCOM 2018.

Henrik Pabst, the president of Red Arrow Studios International, said, “The Weekly is set to be a landmark narrative news series for 2019, and will deliver compelling U.S. and international stories that go beyond the news, and reveal the workings of one of the world’s great news organizations. In a time of intense debate around the world about the role of a free press and the relationship between press and politics, we are honored to be distributing this show internationally and taking it to global audiences on behalf of The New York Times, Left/Right and its partners.”

Sam Dolnick, assistant managing editor at The New York Times, commented, “The mission of The New York Times is to help people understand the world. By partnering with FX and Hulu, now with Red Arrow Studios International, we are excited to bring quality, original journalism to the largest possible audience.”
