LONDON: Discovery Networks’s British free-to-air factual-entertainment channel Quest will begin streaming online this week, in time for the start of the FIA World Rallycross Championship.

The channel is currently carried on Freeview, YouView, Sky and Virgin. Quest will this week be available for live streaming to tablets and mobile phone. Dedicated apps are in the works. The channel already has an on-demand and catch-up service.

The online stream comes as Quest prepares to begin coverage of FIA World Rallycross Championship, which kicks off this weekend in Portugal. Quest has the free-to-air TV and digital broadcast rights to the competition.

“This is a further evolution of our digital presence that allows our audience to watch what, where and when they want,” said Simon Downing, senior VP and head of Quest. “Streaming Quest live online to complement our linear, catch-up and on-demand services is a milestone in the continued growth of the channel, which will pave the way to reach even bigger audiences. The start of what promises to be a thrilling Rallycross season is the perfect occasion to go live online, bringing all the action direct to your devices.”
