NEW YORK/LOS ANGELES: The Nonfiction Producers Association (NPA), which represents the nonfiction content production business in the U.S., has appointed veteran unscripted producer and executive Michelle Van Kempen as the head of policy and development.

Van Kempen will work closely with NPA’s general manager John Ford on all issues and initiatives, including strategy and operations, industry events, and membership and member services. She will work out of Los Angeles and report to Ford. Van Kempen spent nearly 20 years at Film Garden Entertainment, where her credits include Platinum Weddings, Amazing Wedding Cakes and Hogs Gone Wild.

“Michelle brings to the NPA a wealth of production, creative and management expertise,” Ford remarked. “She will be invaluable to the NPA as we continue to expand our membership and influence. I look forward to a close collaboration with Michelle as we kick off another exciting year for nonfiction.”
