LONDON: TCB Media Rights has secured presales for three history titles from U.K. indie Like A Shot Entertainment, with Inside Secret Societies headed to Australia and Europe.

Inside Secret Societies, an hour-long series commissioned by American Heroes Channel in the U.S., has been sold to VIASAT World, France’s RMC Découverte and Foxtel in Australia. The title delves into some of the most dangerous and mysterious societies in the world, including the Ku Klux Klan and the Order of Assassins.

The Private Lives of the Tudors, meanwhile, is a three-part series that examines the lives, loves and scandals of the Tudor Court. The program was sold to SBS in Australia and presold to MTG.

Additionally, SBS and Foxtel went for The Somme: The First 24 Hours, an hour-long documentary hosted by Tony Robinson that tells of British men who fought in World War I. The documentary, originally commissioned by Discovery Channel in the U.K., was also presold to Historic Channel, which is available in 39 countries across Russia, the CIS and the Baltics.

Paul Heaney, the CEO of TCB Media Rights, said: “Like A Shot’s ability to take stories from the past and bring them alive for contemporary audiences is second to none. But these presales also reflect a wider trend. The surge in demand among terrestrial and SVOD platforms for period drama is creating a buoyant market for factual content that can provide context and richer detail to the historical stories that are proving so popular with global audiences.”
