NEW YORK: FYI has given the go-ahead to Downtown Shabby, a new series from 3 Ball Entertainment featuring renovation and design experts Frank and Sherry Fontana.

The show is slated for a fall premiere, and production on the 8×1-hour series has already begun. Downtown Shabby sees the Fontanas renovate vintage homes that are plagued with all kinds of problems, from termite infestations to dry rot to weak foundations and more.

Though they will modernize the homes on the inside, the Fontanas will keep the original charm of the houses. The series will also follow the lives of the homeowners, who will remain in their homes throughout the renovation process.

In addition, True Value, which has hardware retail locations throughout the world, has partnered with the series and will be integrated into each episode. The agreement includes custom short-form content, on-air segments featuring take-aways for viewers and co-branded cross promotion.

“Frank and Sherry are proven talent in the home-renovation space and will bring their passion for property preservation to this new series,” said Gena McCarthy, the executive VP of programming and development for FYI. “Downtown Shabby will capture huge renovations, unexpected challenges and stunning reveals.”

Executive producers for 3 Ball Entertainment are Todd A. Nelson, DJ Nurre, Ross Weintraub and Curnal Aulisio. Executive producers for FYI are McCarthy and James Bolosh.
