Discovery Channel Ups Joseph Boyle to SVP Role

Discovery Channel has promoted Joseph Boyle, an Emmy-winning executive producer, to the post of senior VP of production and development.

In his new role, Boyle will report into Nancy Daniels, chief brand officer of Discovery and factual. Upon joining Discovery in 2013, he spearheaded production for many of the network’s series, working on such programs as the Emmy-winning Deadliest Catch, Naked and Afraid and its spin-off, Naked and Afraid XL. Most recently, Boyle served as Discovery Channel’s VP of production and development. Prior to joining Discovery, Boyle was a showrunner overseeing productions for Discovery, TLC, Animal Planet, Science Channel, HISTORY and Syfy.

Daniels said: “Joe has a passion for telling stories and an incredible creative vision. He has not only cultivated new programs for the network, but has re-invigorated many of our longest-running hit series. I’m excited to have him continue to be a vital part of the senior team.”
