LONDON: DCD Rights has appointed former Passion Distribution exec Philippa Chuter to the newly created role of senior acquisitions executive to lead the company’s drive for factual content.

In this position, Chuter will lead DCD Rights’s push for factual acquisitions. She will be responsible for developing relationships with new and existing producers and will work closely with the sales team to continue to expand its slate. Chuter will report to Pilar Perez, DCD Rights’s head of acquisitions, who will focus on the company’s drama acquisitions and co-productions strategy.

Chuter previously served as acquisitions executive at Passion Distribution. In that role, her duties included securing new producer relationships and content for international distribution. She began her career at BBC Worldwide in Sydney and has also participated as an industry advisor for The Indielab TV Accelerator.

Nicky Davies Williams, CEO of DCD Rights, commented, “We’re delighted to welcome Philippa to this new dedicated factual role. The international potential for high-quality, globally relevant factual programming is continuing to grow, as evidenced by our recent success with series such as FirstLookTV’s Stalkers Who Kill. Continued increases in our program acquisitions funding and the expansion in the drama catalog and co-production have been key accelerators in our decision to expand our team. Philippa’s appointment will enable Pilar to focus her efforts on growing our drama slate.”
