LONDON: UKTV’s entertainment channel Dave has ordered an eight-episode fifth season of the popular talk show Alan Davies: As Yet Untitled.

The new installment will see such stars as Melanie C, Sanjeev Baskhar, Dave Johns, Gemma Cairney and David Baddiel discuss stories from the worlds of comedy and entertainment with the titular host. It is slated to begin airing next month. Alan Davies: As Yet Untitled is produced by Phil McIntyre Entertainment.

Davies remarked: “In this post-truth era, only Dave would dare run a show in which the guests talk openly about events that actually happened. Many famous comedy faces will appear as well as several talented people I’ve never heard of. Normally, being 50 now, I can’t stand meeting new people but thanks to Dave, I’m overcoming that fear.”

Iain Coyle, senior commissioning editor and executive producer for UKTV, said: “I love this show; it’s consistently brilliant. The combination of seeing a new side to the biggest names in comedy and the show’s continuing commitment to fresh talent is a credit to the producers.”

Steve North, Dave’s general manager, noted: “I am delighted to have a brand-new [season] of As Yet Untitled on Dave; I see it as a vital opportunity to help introduce some of the freshest names in comedy to a broader television audience. Alan continues to be a brilliantly warm host and unearth some incredible stories out of an amazing array of guests.”

Lucy Ansbro, exec producer for Phil McIntyre, added: “We are thrilled to be working with the channel and UKTV again on such a brilliant series. Alan is great at coaxing the best stories out of the guests every episode. We can’t wait to fill those seats.”
