Channel 4 has commissioned Reef Television to produce a series about Britain’s airfields presented by amateur pilot Arthur Williams.

Flying High with Arthur Williams (working title), will see the former Royal Marine take to the skies in his very own Piper J3 Cub airplane to visit the network of airfields across the U.K. Williams will unveil the rich history and active communities behind the airfields. He will meet the people involved in airfield life and go for a spin in both new and old planes.

The 4×1-hour series was commissioned for Channel 4 by Lizi Wootton, the commissioning editor for features. The executive producer on the series will be Reef Television’s head of factual, Ben Weston, with Owen Rodd serving as series editor and Richard Max and Alex Hearle directing.

Wootton said, “I am really excited about working with Arthur Williams and Reef on this great new series revealing the depth of our country’s fascination with flight and the astonishing people and places that have an unexpected story to tell.”

Weston added, “We’re delighted to be working with Channel 4 Features again and to be collaborating with Arthur on something we all see quite simply as a dream series.”
