In the aftermath of the U.K.’s Brexit vote, Channel 4 has commissioned Inside the EU, a tentatively titled documentary series from October Films.
Inside the EU will spotlight the European Parliament as seen through the eyes of the U.K.’s MEPs, including the Labour Party’s Seb Dance and UKIP’s Gerard Batten. The 3×60-minute show is produced and directed by Christian Trumble, with Jane Merkin and Denman Rooke executive producing for October Films. It was commissioned by Nick Mirsky, Channel 4’s head of documentaries.
Merkin remarked: “Inside the EU reveals a group of ‘Eurocrats’ far from the grey, faceless automatons painted in the tabloid press. Instead, as seen in the series, they are a colorful, passionate bunch of characters who wear their hearts on their sleeve, fighting tirelessly for what they believe in despite the fact that in 18 months, the U.K. will stop being part of the EU.”
Mirsky added: “Covering the first nine months of tantrums and turmoil in the Brexit negotiations and with every major political party filmed, Inside the EU provides a unique and colorful insight into these historic times.”
