Beyond Distribution has added to its catalog the documentary series Merchants of the Wild, which sees six individuals from indigenous backgrounds go on a journey to experience what life was like for their ancestors.

Merchants of the Wild looks at what it takes to survive a fur trade mission similar to the ones in Northern Canada centuries ago. The group must survive for 25 days with no modern technology while finding food and shelter. The 13×30-minute show is made by Buck Productions and Little Bear Big Wolf Pictures.

Merchants of the Wild is about bravery, determination and understanding the beauty and importance of our environment,” said Sean Buckley, the CEO of Buck Productions. “At Buck, we aim for involvement with engaging content that has a purpose, which is exactly what we have brought with Merchants of the Wild. This was a special shoot for the team at Little Bear Big Wolf Productions and we’re thrilled to help guide them forward and share it with the world.”

Sarah McCormack, acting head of acquisitions at Beyond Distribution, added: “This is a really special series which isn’t just about survival, it’s about re-connecting with a past which is now all but forgotten. By experiencing what life must have been like firsthand is inspiring and the themes explored are universal, which is why we are thrilled to be working with the team at Buck to bring this to a wider international audience.”
