LONDON: Channel 5 has picked up the new documentary series Boy to Man from Beyond Distribution for the U.K. digital channel Spike.

Boy to Man will air on Spike as Wildman: Extreme Adventurer. The 12×60-minute show looks on as adventurer and filmmaker Tim Noonan goes on a journey of self-discovery, meeting with little-known tribes and participating in various rituals, initiations and tests to prove his manhood.

Boy to Man was produced by Seven Productions in Australia for Travel Channel in the U.S. The docuseries has also been sold to France 5, Discovery in CEEMEA, RTL Germany, SBS Discovery Sweden, YLE Finland, RUV Iceland, Blue Ant Media and Canal Evasion in Canada.

Cherry Yeandle, acquisitions manager at Channel 5, remarked: “Wildman: Extreme Adventurer sits right at the heart of what Spike is about. This pioneering, brave, bold series of documentaries show the real and raw side of Tim Noonan’s one-man adventure. This series is a one-man show more than any other as Tim puts himself through some of the toughest coming-of-age initiations across the globe, with no back-up crew to help him if things go wrong. That adventurer spirit is key to Spike and we are pleased to offer this content exclusively in the U.K.”

Marzenna Czubowicz, Beyond’s VP of sales for Western Europe, added: “Boy to Man has been one of our stand-out documentaries this year. The passion and commitment displayed by Tim throughout the series is truly heroic and I’m sure it will rate well when it airs on Spike TV.”
