LONDON/BELFAST: 360Production has landed two commissions in the U.S. for a pair of history titles, including an order from Discovery Communications’s American Heroes Channel (AHC).

360Production will produce Pearl Harbor: The Heroes Who Fought Back (working title) for American Heroes Channel. The hour-long documentary special will commemorate the 75th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. It explores little-known stories of the heroes of that day. Pearl Harbor: The Heroes Who Fought Back will be executive produced for AHC by Max Culhane.

In addition, Smithsonian Channel has given the go-ahead to a six-part series tentatively titled Survivor. The program uses drama, graphics, archive footage and interviews to tell the human stories behind some of the world’s worst disasters. Survivor will be executive produced for Smithsonian by Charles Poe and John Cavanagh. The network previously acquired the 2015 film Lusitania: 18 Minutes That Changed the World from 360Production.

Both Survivor and Pearl Harbor: The Heroes Who Fought Back will be series produced by Edward Hart. Ailsa Orr will executive produce both titles for 360Production, which is owned by the Rare Television group. These commissions represent the first fruits of 360Production’s recently launched U.S. expansion strategy.

Orr, the incoming creative director of 360Production, commented: “These U.S. commissions are a reflection of our concerted development push over the past year. They are also a great springboard into the next phase of our growth, which includes rolling out our formats internationally. There’s a huge global appetite for high-quality factual content with unique visual storytelling devices and our experience in this area speaks for itself.”
