SILVER SPRING: Discovery Networks International has secured carriage for TLC HD in the Middle East and North Africa through OSN.

TLC HD launches on the platform on March 24. It joins Discovery Channel HD, Discovery Science HD, Animal Planet HD, Discovery World and Investigation Discovery on OSN. The channel will be available in the region exclusively on OSN and will also be showcasing programming from OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network.

“The launch of TLC HD is hugely exciting for us and marks a key moment in our continuing investment in the Middle East and partnership with OSN,” said James Gibbons, the senior VP and country manager at Discovery Networks CEEMEA. “There is clearly a gap in the market for a channel like TLC—the ultimate destination for the best in female-skewed, entertaining and inspirational content—and its success globally is proof of how well the content works across cultures. We are thrilled to present TLC HD to the market, and are sure our OSN viewers will love the channel when it launches this month.”

David Butorac, the CEO of OSN, said: “Discovery Networks has been an integral part of OSN’s growth story, enabling us to provide viewers with world class exclusive content found nowhere else. TLC HD will further complement our existing lifestyle channels bringing even more premium entertainment choices for viewers.

“We began 2014 with a bang launching four new channels in just two months. It has always been our endeavour to bring OSN viewers the best content from across the world first, and we will continue to grow the unrivalled content we offer viewers with an unmatched television viewing experience.”
