LOS ANGELES: As part of a new "guest country" focus announced by the DISCOP Organization, Nigeria has been selected as the first country to take the spotlight at November’s DISCOP Africa.

The DISCOP Organization said that there will be a guest country for both DISCOP Africa and DISCOP Istanbul. Nigeria will be the focus of the upcoming DISCOP Africa, with a range of dedicated events, screenings and conference tracks to mark the 20th anniversary of Nollywood.

Richard Bell, the CEO of Wanachi Group, East Africa’s leading home-entertainment operator and the continent’s second-largest pay-TV operator, is lined up to deliver a keynote. Bell will be interviewed in a one-on-one session about the development of the pay-TV market in Africa. This will take place November 6 at 9 a.m.

"A guest country will be honored at each DISCOP Africa to offer attendees an in-depth look at Africa’s most vibrant marketplaces. To mark Nollywood’s 20 year anniversary, Nigeria will be our first guest country and its Film and TV industries will be honored during a special gala evening," commented Patrick Jucaud-Zuchowicki, the general manager of the DISCOP Organization. "Africa is the fastest-growing advertising, free-to-air and pay-TV marketplace in the world, our ambition is to run two events a year, in the not so distant future, one in South Africa, and the other one in Nigeria."
