HONG KONG/STOCKHOLM: Eccho Rights has sold Ice Adonis, a Korean drama series from CJ E&M, to Moby Media for Afghanistan, Iran and Iraq.

Ice Adonis is set in the glamorous world of a major cosmetics company. It tells the story of stepsisters whose rivalry turns to hatred when once sister is accused of murder.

The drama has now sold to 29 countries. There are plans for a remake in Mexico, and earlier this year Eccho Rights announced a local remake in Ukraine and an option by Endemol in Italy.

Gary Pudney, the head of Asia Pacific at Eccho Rights, commented, "Traditionally Asia has been an importer of content, but we are increasingly seeing the region exporting products too. It seems the rest of the world is waking up to the great content coming out of Asia.

"Ice Adonis is a terrific example of what the industry here is able to do. A tight script with a clear storyline and universal appeal."

Alex Oe, the sales director at CJ E&M Corporation, added, "The most amazing thing about Ice Adonis is not just the number of countries it has been sold to, but the fact that it has successfully engaged many viewers and the ratings across regions reflect this."
