The inaugural DISCOP Sharm El Sheikh, which is taking the place of the Middle East-focused market DISCOP Dubai, is expecting more than 1,000 delegates at next year’s event.
DISCOP Sharm El Sheikh will be held at the Martim Jolie Ville Royal Peninsula Hotel & Resort in the Egyptian city from February 26 to 28. The event is anticipating attendees from 70 countries representing 750-plus companies, including over 300 content acquisition executives and 250 content producers from Northern Africa and the Middle East, as well as some 100 global and regional distributors.
“Egypt’s program to transform the country into one of the world’s fastest-growing entertainment and media marketplace explains our move,” stated Patrick Zuchowicki Jucaud, general manager of the DISCOP markets. “With a population of 100 million, Egypt is the most populous country in the Arabic-speaking world and a regional nerve center of culture and creativity. Buyers from MENA countries who are increasingly looking for homegrown content will also have a unique opportunity to tap into Egypt’s large reservoir of film, television and digital content.”
