NEW YORK: Univision Communications has partnered with Bedrocket to establish Flama, a digital destination for video content targeting 15- to 30-year-olds.

Flama will be predominantly English-based. It will deliver original and curated comedy, music, lifestyle and sports programming. Univision and Bedrock are co-investors and creative partners. The destination will preview this fall on YouTube and officially launch as a destination in early 2014.

“Today’s younger generation is transformative and voraciously consumes and creates content. They are trendsetters, who are expanding the boundaries of media and American culture,” said Tonia O’Connor, the president of content distribution and corporate business development at Univision Communications. “We are uniquely positioned to meet the needs of this generation and are thrilled to partner with Bedrocket to combine our Hispanic expertise with their proven track record in creating compelling digital content and innovation in technology.”

“The great new media brands are no longer transmitted one way by satellite; they are now built-in partnerships with passionate communities who are both audience and creator,” added Brian Bedol, Bedrocket's founder and CEO. “We are excited to partner with Univision to launch Flama, a new kind of programming service for young audiences that will deliver great entertainment content with a fresh user experience.”
