MIAMI: U.S. Spanish-language network Telemundo is slated to premiere a pair of biopic series based on the lives of Hispanic music legends Nicky Jam and José José.
El Ganador is a biographical program about Puerto Rican singer/songwriter Nicky Jam that is produced by Endemol Shine Latino and Boomdog. Nace un Ídolo is a serialized Telemundo Studios production spotlighting Mexican musician José Sosa Ortiz, better known as José José. These two programs follow the success of the channel’s hits Celia and Hasta Que Te Conocí.
“As the most innovative media company in Spanish-language television, we are thrilled to introduce two new music-themed biopics that will give our viewers an exclusive look at the private lives of these iconic stars,” said Luis Silberwasser, the president of Telemundo. “We know our viewers have an appetite for stories about their icons and their idols. José José, with whom we have been working closely and to whom we wish a speedy recovery, and Nicky Jam are two very different and extraordinary artists that are part of the music history of Hispanics of all ages. These are stories that speak to the lives of Latinos right here in the United States.”
