SÃO PAULO: Globo has presented a new organizational structure for the company, which includes plans to invest more heavily in the production of journalism and entertainment content.

Globo is planning to invest more in these areas for terrestrial TV, pay TV and digital media. The content areas include entertainment, journalism and sports, programming and quality control and communications.

Carlos Henrique Schroder, the CEO of Globo, said: “We are living during a time in which everything changes at an increasing rate. And every organization that intends to survive and excel in such an environment needs to make a thorough assessment of the way it is operating and have the courage and boldness to renew itself.”

The new structure is based on three pillars: content, business and management. The motivations are to increase efficiency, creativity and innovation and also to emphasize the value of professionalism. Schroder said this makes the company “more integrated, more dynamic, more prepared to face the great current changes that impact society, technology and consumers.”

Willy Haas, Globo’s director of business, is second in the hierarchical structure and the substitute for the CEO in case of an eventual absence. He will now merge all of the areas responsible for generating revenues into one single unit. He will also manage regional broadcasters in Brasília, Belo Horizonte and Recife, as well as the international business and affiliate relations divisions.

Rossana Fontentelle leads the planning and management divisions, including the human capital department, as well as the financial, assets and services and technology departments in addition to having the support of the strategic planning and digital media departments.

Journalism and sports direction is led by Ali Kamel. The entertainment division is led by Manoel Martins.

The programming and analysis and quality control departments were integrated, under the leadership of Amauri Soares.

The communications division is directed by Sergio Valente. It is responsible for promoting the broadcaster’s products and the Globo brand. Now it will also account for the actions of Globo Rio and Globo São Paulo.

Schroder said: “The competence of each one of us and the consistent work undertaken up to now has placed our company in the leadership position in which we find ourselves. But challenges change over time and we must continue to be competitive and frequently advance. Because that’s been our conduct for almost fifty years. Maintaining our success requires constant revision. And that’s what we’ve done.”
