RIO DE JANEIRO: Fox Sports Latin America has secured the rights to Italian Serie A matches, starting with the 2012/13 season, in a deal with MP&Silva.

MP&Silva is the exclusive international distributor of media rights for the Lega Nazionale Professionisti Serie A through 2015. Fox Sports will bring the games to more than 33 million homes in 19 countries across Latin America.

“We are thrilled to have secured the rights to one of the most prestigious soccer leagues in the world,” said Carlos Martinez, the president of Fox International Channels Latin America. “As we get ready to launch Fox Sports in Brazil with exclusive cable and satellite rights to Copa Santander Libertadores, in the second half of the year we will have an even stronger lineup, adding the Italian Serie A to Copa Bridgestone Sudamericana and Barclays Premier League.”

Carlo Pozzali, CEO of the Americas at MP&Silva, added, "As the Italian football clubs are the home of many successful Brazilian and Argentinean players, I am sure that fans will be pleased to be able to watch their idols in the run-up to the World Cup."
