Amazon Prime Video has secured Mexican actor, writer, director and producer Eugenio Derbez to host the variety show LOL: Last One Laughing.

LOL: Last One Laughing is expected to debut later this year exclusively on Prime Video in more than 200 countries and territories. In the six-part series, Derbez pits ten famous Mexican comedians against each other as they compete to win a grand prize. It marks the fourth Prime original series from Amazon Prime Video for Mexico, following the recently launched Diablo Guardian, as well as the upcoming Un Extraño Enemigo and a biopic based on the life of Diego Maradona. LOL: Last One Laughing is an adaptation of the Prime original series in Japan, Hitoshi Matsumoto Presents Documental.

“The unique concept behind Last One Laughing is what attracted me to this project and I couldn’t be more excited to shine a light on Mexico’s robust comedic talent,” said Derbez. “Together with Amazon Prime Video, we will bring audiences around the world to tears (of laughter)!”

“We’re thrilled to be working with such a talented actor and creator like Eugenio Derbez who continues to bring global attention to Mexico’s comedy scene,” commented Pablo Iacoviello, the head of content for Latin America at Amazon Prime Video. “There has never been a show like this before in Mexico, and we think Prime members are going to love how Derbez and these amazing comedians go wild and test each other’s limits in the name of laughter.”
