Electus has established Electus Latino, a new division that will create and produce original content, as well as distribute scripted and unscripted series throughout Latin America.

Electus Latino will be based in Mexico City and led by Paulette Bensussen. The new division will be an extension of the Electus model, which aims to bring together premium content providers with top brands to create and produce new original series for the market. In addition to creating new scripted and unscripted content, Electus Latino will sell content from Electus International and its third-party partners and acquire new formats from the LatAm region to develop and distribute globally.

Bensussen, who reports to John Pollak, the company’s president of worldwide television and Electus International, began her career at BBC Worldwide and was a key player in the expansion of BBC’s programming footprint, as well as an integral part of the team responsible for launching and managing the BBC/Discovery joint venture in Latin America. In 2001, she joined Scripps Networks as director of international operations.

“Paulette is the perfect person to lead Electus Latino, and it is a pleasure to welcome her to this expanded role,” said Pollak. “She has extensive experience in the region and an eye for finding content that will engage and attract audiences—not just in Latin America, but all over the world.”

“The time is right to expand our operations in Latin America,” said Bensussen. “Our track-record, cultural knowledge and wide network of long-standing relationships in the region are the perfect formula to kick-start production of fresh original content for and from the region. We are thrilled to inaugurate our Mexico City operations and welcome networks, talent, brands and producers to take advantage of our expertise and Electus’s global reach.”
