American Idol Returns to LatAm on Canal Sony

Canal Sony has picked up the revival of American Idol in a deal with FremantleMedia International.

The new season of American Idol is part of Canal Sony’s Sigue la Música strategy for its prime-time programming block on Wednesdays and Thursdays. The block showcases talent competitions such as The Voice (U.S.), The X Factor (U.K.) and America’s Got TalentAmerican Idol will come to Canal Sony in March 2018.

“For more than 20 years, the industry has looked to Canal Sony for programming that presents the best and latest Hollywood productions, including the most popular series, comedies and musical competitions,” commented TC Schultz, the executive VP and managing director for Latin America and Brazil at Sony Pictures Television Networks. “The new season of American Idol underscores once more the enormous diversity and quality of our content, and our network’s role in bringing viewers the best new musical talent from the United States.”
