LONDON: Zodiak Kids Studios has inked a development and production deal with Ingrid Selberg Consulting and Emma Young for the rights to a new scripted show called Girls Can Vlog.

Girls Can Vlog is created by Ingrid Selberg, and co-developed and authored by Selberg and Emma Young under the name Emma Moss. The series centers on four friends who launch their own YouTube channel, where they document their lives. The worldwide television distribution rights are being handled by Zodiak Kids.

Jean-Philippe Randisi, the CEO of Zodiak Kids, remarked: “We strongly believe the premise of Girls Can Vlog will resonate with kids’ and teens’ lives in a digital world and can’t wait to get started on developing Ingrid and Emma’s ideas into a global television series.”

Selberg, the former managing director of Simon and Schuster UK, added: “We’re delighted to be working with Zodiak Kids to bring the Girls Can Vlog story and characters to life on screen. These realistic but funny stories about ordinary YouTube fans—not celebs—taking control and vlogging themselves have resonated with readers around the world.”

Girls Can Vlog has a four-book agreement for world print and digital rights with Macmillan Children’s Books. The first title, Lucy Locket: Online Disaster, was released in April 2016 and the second, Amazing Abby: Drama Queen, came out earlier this month. There are two additional titles set for 2017, each of which contains tips and responsible guidance about starting a video blog.
