COLOGNE: WDR mediagroup (WDRmg) is heading to Cannes with a slate that features the new pre-teen series Hayden’s Dream, as well as the puppet adventure series WildWoods, among other kids’ titles.

The brand-new live-action series Hayden’s Dream sees the titular character set out to fulfill her dreams. The series centers on fashion, creativity and growing up. Bryncoed Productions is on board to begin production on the 26-episode first season next spring.

Foz Allan, executive producer at Bryncoed Productions, said, “Hayden’s Dream is modern television for children and young teenagers. We use contemporary storytelling devices to explore the joyful struggle of finding yourself and being true to yourself.”

Andrea Zuska, the CCO at WDRmg, commented, “Set in the world of fashion and specifically aimed at children and pre-teens on the verge of adulthood, the series fills a gap in the market. It perfectly complements our range of programs for children and youths, as we now have something appropriate in our portfolio for all age groups and areas of interest.”

The company is also debuting a puppet adventure series for 5- to 7-year-olds called WildWoods, as well as season two of the preschool series Gigglebug, about a little creature with a great laugh that helps him make the most of sticky situations. The company is also presenting the entertainment format The Maus and the animated detective series Dougie Noir.

“These programs illustrate the diversity of our kids’ content, ranging from animation for preschoolers to live action for teens,” says Stefanie Fischer, the head of content at WDRmg. “All of them are high-quality productions with a universal appeal, covering topics that are relevant for kids worldwide.”

Fischer adds: “There are many ways for producers and broadcasters from all over the globe to work with us and we have a lot planned for next year.” The company is seeking co-production partners for kids’ projects and is also presenting formats for local adaptation.
