Karen K. Miller, a former Disney Channels Worldwide executive, has been appointed senior VP of content at Universal Kids.

Miller will create and execute strategy, while supervising development, co-pros, current production and acquisitions across all Universal Kids content. She is expected to help increase audiences and build franchises that support brand and business objectives. She will also drive overall network strategy and oversee a slate of live-action and animation projects.

Previously, Miller served as VP of worldwide programming strategy, acquisitions and co-pros for Disney Channels Worldwide. Before that, she spent 18 years at Warner Bros., most recently as VP of property acquisitions for consumer products.

Meanwhile, Ellen Stone, executive VP of marketing for Bravo and Oxygen Media, is taking on an expanded role that includes Universal Kids. She will continue to work under Frances Berwick, the president of lifestyle networks for NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment, and will now also report to Deirdre Brennan, the general manager of Universal Kids.

“As we continue to grow Universal Kids as a network, we know it is critical to have senior executives who understand today’s rapidly changing environment,” said Brennan. “Karen is a renowned children’s content expert whose track record makes her a perfect fit for this role. In welcoming Ellen to our team, we know that she will ensure that all of our campaigns resonate with families while also growing overall brand awareness.”
