TORONTO: Bejuba! Entertainment has licensed the exclusive U.S. SVOD rights for the animated preschool series Sydney Sailboat to Hulu, where the show is slated to begin streaming later this month.

Sydney Sailboat centers on a young sailboat who dreams of exploring the sea. The series, which airs on NBCU’s Sprout in the U.S. and was commissioned by ABC KIDS in Australia, will become available on Hulu as of September 26. It is produced by Essential Media and Entertainment, Ideate Media, Telegael and Lemon Sky in association with Shambles Communications.

“Right away, Hulu was excited by Sydney Sailboat and we’re delighted they were keen to take it exclusively,” commented Tatiana Kober, the president of Bejuba! Entertainment.

Carmel Travers, producer and head of family entertainment at Essential Media, noted: “Sydney Sailboat is making a splash in Australia and throughout the world. We’re thrilled Hulu jumped on board for U.S. streaming. The show is a ratings hit on the ABC KIDS linear platform and an additional 1 million-plus views on ABC KIDS catch-up service iview this year alone. It’s now screening in the U.K. and 50 other territories on the Sony Tiny Pop platform.”

Zainir Aminullah, the CEO of Ideate Media, added: “Sydney Sailboat is a true international collaboration, bringing together talents from three different continents. Its success has helped cement Southeast Asia as the leading destination for content development and production. As Ideate continues to build up our slate of shows, we look forward to working on more exciting productions with high-caliber partners.”
