Shout! Factory & Legacy Classics Developing New Family Movies

LOS ANGELES: A new partnership between Shout! Factory and Legacy Classics will see the production and distribution of a slate of new family movies based on best-selling classic and contemporary children’s book series.

As part of the wide-ranging partnership, Shout! Factory and Legacy Classics will jointly develop, produce and market new animated features and live-action family movies. The first round of films includes three new animated features adapted from The Boxcar Children book series. Shout! Factory and Legacy Classics are working closely with publisher Albert Whitman & Company, looking to launch the first movie timed to the 75th anniversary of The Boxcar Children.

The Boxcar Children, by Gertrude Chandler Warner, is one of the best-selling children’s book series of all time. More than 70 million books have sold worldwide. There are 150 books in the series.

Shout! Factory will co-produce these films with Legacy Classics and handle the sales and distribution for each movie across all platforms in North America, including theatrical, digital, broadcast, inflight and home entertainment through Shout! Factory Films and Shout! Factory Kids.
