PARIS: STUDIOCANAL and Autochenille Production are adapting Joann Sfar’s comic Little Vampire (Petit Vampire) into an animated feature film.

Sfar will direct the adaptation, which will be produced by Autochenille Production and Panache Productions. The film will be co-produced by STUDIOCANAL with the participation of France 3 Cinéma. Little Vampire tells the story of an orphan named Michael, who befriends a vampire who has been 10 years old for 300 years and dreams of going to school and making new friends. The original story will draw from the first volume of the comic strip series, which Delcourt published in 1999.

STUDIOCANAL will handle all distribution rights and international sales for the title. To date, the comic has sold nearly 320,000 copies.
