LONDON: Hoho Entertainment has kicked off production on Shane the Chef, a new animated preschool show that is due to debut on Channel 5’s Milkshake! in the fall.

Shane the Chef follows the culinary adventures of an energetic chef and his young daughter. The 52×11-minute program, which is being produced entirely in the U.K., was created by Andrew Wildman and Simon Jowett. It is being animated by Cloth Cat Animation and received production funding from Creative Europe, with support also coming from the Children’s Food Trust.

Oliver Ellis, joint managing director at Hoho Entertainment, commented: “We can’t wait to put on our aprons, roll up our sleeves and start mixing the ingredients to make Shane the Chef a great success. It’s the perfect recipe for children to explore fresh food and healthy eating.”

Sarah Muller, the head of children’s at Channel 5, noted: “It is really exciting to be supporting such an ambitious U.K. animated series which so directly engages our audience with food.”

Jon Rennie, the managing director of Cloth Cat Animation, added: “We’ve very excited to be collaborating with Hoho Entertainment on Shane the Chef. The fact that Hoho has decided to place all the animation work in Cardiff is a resounding vote of confidence in Cloth Cat and the talent and skills available in Wales.”
