TORONTO: Portfolio Entertainment has closed several international deals for the animated kids’ comedy series Freaktown, including with Disney for its channels in India.

In addition to Disney in India, Sony Pictures Television picked up the 26×30-minute series for its U.K. channel Kix. In Denmark, Freaktown is set for DR Ultra Channel. The series is intended for kids aged 6 to 11 and follows the adventures of a skeleton named Ben Bones who, along with his freaky friends, is on a mission to protect the town from Princess Boo Boo the Bouncy of Sweetlandia.

Freaktown was commissioned by TELETOON in Canada and is produced by Portfolio. The sales into the U.K., Denmark and India, which came at MIPCOM, join a raft of prior sales to kids’ networks across the globe.

Freaktown’s mix of everything sweet and cuddly with the gleefully gross and slimy continues to hook kids everywhere who love seeing these two worlds and their characters collide at every turn,” said Jonathan Abraham, the director of international sales and acquisitions at Portfolio Entertainment. “We’re thrilled to ink these new deals and bring this highly entertaining series to new homes in the U.K., Denmark and India.”
