Shout! Factory has acquired North American home-entertainment rights for the preschool series P. King Duckling from China-based UYoung.

The multiyear agreement provides Shout! Factory with exclusive home-entertainment distribution rights for DVD and EST in the U.S. and Canada for all 26 half-hour episodes of the first season of P. King Duckling. The company is planning a strategic rollout of the series beginning in September through its kids’ and family imprint, Shout! Factory Kids.

The series follows P. King, a duck that sets out on wild adventures with his two best friends and tackles challenges along the way. It was created by preschool TV producer Josh Selig of Little Airplane Productions in collaboration with James Chen Gu, the general manager of UYoung Animation. The show broadcasts on Disney Junior in the U.S.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with UYoung in presenting P. King Duckling on home-entertainment shelves,” said Melissa Boag, the senior VP of kids’ and family entertainment at Shout! Factory. “This special property, which encourages children to be creative and resourceful, brings meaningful entertainment value to the marketplace, and is a welcome addition to our slate of quality family entertainment.”

Clara Yang, the general manager of UYoung, added, “We are delighted to be working with Shout! Factory Kids. They have a strong presence in the home-entertainment business, partner with some of the leading names in the IP business and have a great enthusiasm for P. King Duckling. We are thrilled that P. King Duckling is joining their rich portfolio of titles.”
