BURBANK: Starting today, Disney Channels Worldwide is launching a series of short-form programming meant to encourage children to have healthy eating and exercise habits.

The interstitials, which will rotate daily on Disney Channel, Disney XD and Disney Junior, showcase the work of such animation talent as James Curran and David Calcano, and feature popular characters from such shows as The Lion Guard, Miles from Tomorrowland and Star Wars Rebels. Among the short-form series are The Adventures of Papchu and Dr. Kapatoo, which emphasizes the importance of a nutritious diet and is slated to premiere on September 26.

Other titles include Teke Ruka Teleza (Kick, Jump, Slide), a workout video premiering today; Be Your Best with Miles, which launches tomorrow and encourages kids to make healthy choices to sustain their energy throughout the day; Improve Your Selfie (September 26), promoting exercise and healthy eating; and the yoga-inspired Training with the Guard, due to debut on October 3.

The interstitials are part of Disney’s company-wide Healthy Living Commitment, a campaign that aims to make eating right and exercising both easy and fun.

Gary Marsh, the president and chief creative officer of Disney Channels Worldwide, said: “We have an ongoing dialogue with parents who tell us they appreciate our efforts to model healthy lifestyle choices. One of the ways we do that is by ensuring healthier standards for food products seen within our kids’ television, radio and digital programming, and by using our platforms to inspire kids to eat nutritious foods and be active.”
