Corus Entertainment’s Nelvana has signed an exclusive Canadian broadcasting and licensing agreement with Sesame Workshop for the long-running hit series Sesame Street.

Under the partnership, Nelvana will exclusively air Sesame Street and Sesame Studios content in Canada on Corus’s Treehouse as well as across the preschool channel’s nonlinear platforms. Nelvana will also manage Sesame Street‘s licensed merchandise in the country.

“This builds on our existing partnership with Sesame Workshop on Esme & Roy, which will premiere on Treehouse in Canada,” said Pam Westman, the head of Nelvana Enterprises. “Sesame Street is an iconic brand that continues to immerse young new viewers in educational content, while engaging lifelong fans. We look forward to continuing to expand the merchandise program to bring Sesame Street’s remarkable stories and colorful characters to life in exciting ways for consumers.”

“Nelvana’s commitment to family and children’s entertainment aligns perfectly with Sesame Workshop’s mission to help children grow smarter, stronger and kinder,” added Scott Chambers, the senior VP for North America media and licensing at Sesame Workshop. “The partnership extends our reach across a spectrum that few partners can match—from broadcast TV to digital to consumer products and retail—helping to create a deeper connection with families and the Sesame brand.”
