BEIJING/LOS ANGELES: UYoung has appointed Mattel as the global master toy partner for BattleClaw, a new 2D-animated action series for boys aged 6 to 10.

Mattel will manufacture, distribute and market a number of toys and other consumer products based on BattleClaw, including games, action figures and more. The company will also oversee global L&M for the property, which centers on a beast-fighting competition. Mattel will release a toy range in China soon after the show’s premiere on CCTV at 6 p.m. on November 25.

UYoung’s agreement with Mattel marks the first time a Chinese property has secured a global master toy license. It is also the first time that such a license will have its worldwide launch in China.

Lisa Zhong, the president of UYoung, remarked: “We are very excited and proud to have produced the first Chinese property to attract such a major international toy deal. On seeing BattleClaw, Mattel immediately recognized its high quality and its international toyetic appeal. At UYoung we remain committed to creating and developing world-class animated content which appeals to both Chinese and international markets.”
