MELBOURNE: Jetpack Distribution has acquired rights to distribute BES Animation’s new series Kitty is Not a Cat internationally, excluding in the Asia-Pacific region.

The 52×12-minute series follows a group of stray cats living together in a dilapidated mansion left to them by an eccentric baroness. Life’s a party for these felines, until a little girl named Kitty shows up at their doorstep dressed in an orange cat suit. The cats embark on a mission to find out where Kitty came from and to teach her to behave like a human instead of a cat.

BES Animation is also producing exclusive online content available to broadcasters. The content consists of 8×90-minute music videos, 15×2-minute live-action dance classes and 52×60-minute stand-alone interstitials.

Bruce Kane, co-creator and executive producer, commented, “We are thrilled to be partnering with Jetpack on this beautiful and funny series. Kitty is Not a Cat has been a passion project for BES Animation from the get-go and we look forward to sharing the adventures of our little girl who wants to be a cat with the rest of the world.”

Dominic Gardiner, the CEO of Jetpack Distribution, added, “We have long admired the work that BES have produced and we see Kitty is Not a Cat as a stand-out show, unlike anything in the marketplace right now. We love the retro style, and are confident that our broadcaster clients around the world will embrace its offbeat feel. Kitty is the cutest, most adorable kid-cat ever created, and combined with the coolest of cool cats and funky music this series produces a dynamic and singular appeal. We are incredibly enthusiastic about presenting the show at MIPJunior and MIPCOM.”
