LONDON: Jane Horrocks (Absolutely Fabulous) is among the voice cast of Cartoon Network Studios’ latest miniseries, Long Live the Royals, which is due to debut next week.

Created by Sean Szeles (Regular Show), Long Live the Royals follows a modern-day royal family living in a medieval kingdom. Horrocks will voice the character of Queen Eleanor alongside Jon Daly (The Secret Life of Walter Mitty) as King Rufus, Gillian Jacobs (Community) as Princess Rosalind and Kieran Culkin (Scott Pilgrim) as Prince Peter, among others. The four-part miniseries will premiere on Cartoon Network at 6 p.m. on September 6.

Horrocks remarked: “It was such a delight to take on the role of Queen Eleanor in Cartoon Network’s latest miniseries Long Live the Royals. Queen Eleanor is quite a fearsome queen, but she is also very witty and has some really good lines! I was attracted to be a part of this miniseries because the script is very funny and the characters are beautifully drawn. In my opinion there are a lot of cartoons out there that tend to be the same, that’s why I like Long Live the Royals, because it feels very different and fresh. I also think it’s the kind of show that will appeal both to children and adults alike.”
