HARI International has licensed the animated series Pipas & Douglas to China’s Alibaba, which will also handle the property’s merchandising rights in the country, for a release on Youku.

Pipas & Douglas follows the adventures of the titular performing artists—an authoritarian and perfectionist spider and his caterpillar assistant—who want to be a hit at the Music Hall at any cost. The show was created by Alexandre So and Sébastien Lasserre. It is produced by HARI for France Télévisions.

Adeline Tormo, the head of sales at HARI International, commented: “After the success of Grizzy & the Lemmings on Mango TV (more than 200 million views after a month of exploitation), we are thrilled to announce the release of our new series Pipas & Douglas in China on Alibaba’s digital platform Youku. Our great duo of artists has started to travel around the world since the series has also been sold to Télé-Québec in Canada and SVT in Sweden, and we are very proud that Pipas & Douglas’s Asian journey starts with this partnership with Alibaba.”
