Gloob has introduced its new original 4K series Brainiacs to the international marketplace, where it is already drumming up interest across Europe, Asia and Africa.

The series, which is currently available for presales, is produced in partnership with Mixer Films. The 26-episode season one will be finished in the first half of 2018. Brainiacs tells the story of Isaac, a 12-year-old student who is invited to study at the reputable Genius School thanks to his special skills in math and robotics. Gloob presented a trailer for the series at MIPJunior last month.

Brainiacs has given us the chance to talk about science, a topic we had been willing to address for some time,” said Paula Taborda dos Guaranys, the head of content and programming for Gloob and Gloobinho. “The series has a challenging side, but it is also very dynamic, with several areas of study, from robotics to music. We chose to depict a very modern school model, with characters that can relate to children’s real lives today. We produce locally, but always with a global mindset: the dilemmas and situations our children face can be easily identified and are relatable to children anywhere in the world. The international market’s interest proves that we are on the right track, producing local series with very high quality and a relevant approach.”

“Our direction took a more cinema-like approach, with more organic moves and a photography with volume and contrasts in 4K,” commented João Daniel Tikhomiroff, general artistic director and series showrunner. “The humor shown in some situations looks for precise timing without overdoing it, sometimes letting emotions and amusement prevail. It is a series with an appealing premise that both children and parents will like, in addition to attaching value to the differences and idiosyncrasies of each character.”
