Genius Brands International has hired Mark Shoeman, a former DHX Media exec, as the company’s director of distribution.

In his new role, Shoeman will oversee sales of the Genius Brands programming library, including Rainbow Rangers, Llama Llama, SpacePOP, Baby Genius, Thomas Edison’s Secret Lab and more. He will also identify appropriate content to acquire for both Kid Genius Cartoon Channel and the Baby Genius network.

Shoeman will report to Deb Pierson, senior VP of global content distribution and marketing and president of Kid Genius Cartoon Channel. He will work with Pierson to continue expanding the distribution of the company’s channels.

Previously, Shoeman served as territory manager for the U.S. at DHX Brands, a position he held since 2012. Before that, he was sales manager for the U.S. and Asia Pacific at Cookie Jar Entertainment (formerly DIC Entertainment).

“Mark will be a tremendous asset to the Genius Brands team, bringing a wealth of experience, beneficial relationships and a reputation for being passionately committed to distributing, acquiring and successfully managing quality entertainment content for young viewers,” said Pierson.

“With the upcoming launch of Rainbow Rangers this fall on Nick Jr., the recent debut of Llama Llama on Netflix and the growth of the digital channels, this is a thrilling time to be joining Genius Brands, and I’m looking forward to getting started,” added Shoeman.
