HALIFAX: DHX Media’s kids’ series Chuck’s Choice and Space Ranger Roger have scored new commissions, while Inspector Gadget has been renewed for a second season by TELETOON in Canada.

The 2D animated comedy Chuck’s Choice has been commissioned by YTV in Canada, and the series has already been licensed to Turner Broadcasting France. Space Ranger Roger, meanwhile, is a 3D preschool series that has been picked up by Family Jr. in Canada. Additionally, Canada’s TELETOON has signed on for a sophomore season of the iconic 3D animated series Inspector Gadget. All three programs are being produced at DHX Studios and are among the titles the company is presenting at MIPTV 2016.

Chuck’s Choice is aimed at kids aged 6 to 11 and follows Chuck McFarlane, who has been given the U-Decide 3000, which allows him to choose his next adventure. Space Ranger Roger, meanwhile, follows an alien hero sent to Earth on his Friend Ship to save the day for those in distress. The iconic characters return for the second season of Inspector Gadget, which sees the protagonists set out to defeat Dr. Claw and his nephew Talon.

Josh Scherba, the senior VP of distribution at DHX Media, said: “We have a very strong slate for MIPTV with these new commissions underscoring our reputation for producing standout original content for kids and families. Driven by notable creative talents, with Rob Boutilier directing Chuck’s Choice, and Jeff Rosen behind Space Ranger Roger, our newest two shows have fantastic pedigrees. Along with the iconic Inspector Gadget, now going into a second season after significant global demand, we are looking forward to debuting these shows to the international market at MIPTV.”
