BBC Studios has signed agreements with Dhiraagu TV and Medianet that see the kids’ channel CBeebies airing on IPTV and cable television in the Maldives.

CBeebies launched on Dhiraagu TV earlier this month and will become available on Medianet as of September 1. Viewers in the Maldives will have access to such programming as Hey Duggee, Go Jetters and Sarah & Duck. In Asia, the network is also broadcast in Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, South Korea and Singapore.

Myleeta Aga, BBC Studios’ senior VP and VP for South and Southeast Asia, said: “We are very pleased that preschoolers in the Maldives will have access to CBeebies. The channel is home to some of the most entertaining and educational programs for young children and we are excited to share them with families in the Maldives. We look forward to more opportunities for collaboration.”

The fact that Dhiraagu TV is able to showcase such quality content is evidence of our commitment to value creation for our customers.”

Zihiuny Rasheed, head of marketing at Medianet, added: “We are very excited to be able to offer CBeebies content to our little viewers and their carers. CBeebies has a great reputation for providing a safe environment for preschoolers to learn through play. I’m confident that CBeebies will be very popular with our large subscriber base.”
