OTTAWA: Marie McCann has officially been named senior director of CBC Kids, a position she has held on an interim basis since last summer.

McCann is working under Tara Ellis, CBC’s executive director of scripted content. She will continue to oversee the development and production of all children’s programming at CBC. She recently led the rebrand of Kids’ CBC to CBC Kids, including the launch of the new interactive interstitial series Studio K.

From 2007 to 2012, McCann served as executive in charge of production for children’s content at CBC, and then returned to that post early last year before becoming interim senior director of Kids’ CBC in August 2016. Earlier in her career, she was the head of preschool production at TVOntario.

“Marie brings fresh energy, creativity and a wealth of experience to CBC Kids, and we look forward to building on our proud legacy of delivering imaginative, authentic and trusted children’s content to Canadian kids and families under her leadership,” said Ellis.
