Beano Studios has entered into a co-development deal with Lime Pictures for a new live-action dramedy based on the Beano comic character Minnie the Minx.

The Magnificent Misadventures of Minnie is meant for young viewers between the ages of 8 and 12. The show will tell the tale of a mischievous 13-year-old girl who is an aspiring comic book artist. The scripts are being penned by Julie Bower (So Awkward) and Danielle Ward (Danger Mouse).

Chris Rose, the director of development and production at Beano Studios, said: “Collaborating with Lime Pictures to bring Beano’s strongest and most rebellious female character to a new live-action audience is extremely exciting. Minnie has, and always will be, an inspirational character for a forward-thinking generation.”

Kate Little, the managing director of Lime Pictures, added: “Minnie the Minx is the quintessential girl who climbs trees and has been busy entertaining generations of children since her very first appearance in the 1950s. Minnie’s embodiment of girl power remains so relevant to today’s young audiences; we are thrilled to be working with Beano Studios to bring one of their best-loved characters and all her impish antics to life on-screen for a fresh generation of minxes everywhere.”
