9 Story Secures New Wild Kratts Deals in China

TORONTO: 9 Story Media Group has inked several new deals in China spanning broadcast, digital and licensing for the animated series Wild Kratts.

Chinese national broadcaster China Central Television (CCTV) acquired broadcast rights for Wild Kratts, with the series airing on its CCTV-14 kids’ channel Mondays to Fridays at 12 p.m. 9 Story also closed digital sales in partnership with Beijing-based Pacific Media Group. These include an exclusive agreement with Youku and Alibaba for seasons one through three. Several digital platforms also went for season four, including CNTV, iqiyi, LeTV, PPTV and SMG.

In addition, Pacific Media Group was appointed as the licensing agent for Wild Kratts in China. Pacific Media Group will be charged with bringing in new local licensees and securing distribution for existing global merchandise, including the line from master toy partner Wicked Cool Toys.

Wild Kratts is now in its fifth season. It airs in more than 180 countries in 18 different languages. Broadcast partners include Discovery Kids (Latin America and Asia), Super RTL (Germany), TV3 and Canal Panda (Spain), RTE (Ireland), VRT (Belgium), Minimax (Eastern Europe), Mediacorp (Singapore), Primetime (Colombia), Minika (Turkey), E Junior (UAE) and Al Jazeera Children’s Channel (the Middle East).
