CULVER CITY: The Shark Tank format will be adapted in Latin America for the first time, as Sony Pictures Television (SPT) and Clarovideo prep a version for Mexico.

The Mexican adaptation, Shark Tank Mexico: Negociando con Tiburones, will air first on SPT Networks’ Sony Channel with episodes available afterward on Clarovideo’s SVOD platform. Shark Tank Mexico: Negociando con Tiburones will be co-produced by SPT’s Teleset, SPT Networks and Clarovideo. Production on the first 13 episodes is slated to begin in Mexico City in early April for a mid-2016 premiere.

Shark Tank has distinguished itself in the crowded global formats market by blending high stakes negotiations with an intelligent and inspiring entrepreneurial message,” said Alexander Marin, the executive VP of international distribution for Latin America, the Caribbean and Canada at SPT. “The format is perfect for Latin America because of its proven ability to draw family viewers and build its audience season to season.”
