NBCUniversal International Formats & MBC Korea in Format Pact

CANNES: NBCUniversal International Formats and MBC Korea are planning to co-develop and produce original formats for Korean and international audiences.

The agreement marks NBCUniversal International Formats’ first partnership with a leading Asian terrestrial network. MBC is home to a host of local hits, including Where Are We Going, Dad?, King of Mask Singer, Infinite Challenge and a selection of Korean drama titles. Together, they will work to develop formats that work both locally and globally.

Yvonne Pilkington, the senior VP of format salesand production at NBCU, said: “MBC acts as the perfect partner for us. Not only does it have the benefit of knowing the Korean market inside out but it also boasts a strong creative team that will work with us to develop innovative formats with international reach. We can’t wait to get to work on creating some hits and continuing to establish ourselves in the Korean market.”
